Special Election:
House District 58

The Utah Republican Party will hold a special election to fill the House District 58 seat vacated by Representative Jon Cox. Representative Cox resigned from his legislative position after he was hired to become Governor Herbert's communications director.

Candidates who wish to run for legislative office shall sign and submit a disclosure statement to State Party Headquarters at least 7 days (July, 23rd) prior to the Specials Caucus date (July, 30th)

Qualifications to become a member of the Utah House are set forth in the Utah Constitution, Article VI, Section 5:
* must be a citizen of the United States,
* must be at least twenty-five years of age,
* must be a qualified voter in the district from which the person is chosen (elected), and
* must be a resident of the state of Utah for three consecutive years prior to filing for office.

House district 58 covers the eastern portion of Juab county, and most of Sanpete county.

The Special Caucus will be held at Snow College on Thursday, July 30, 2015
(105 E 100 N Ephraim, UT 84627).
